EV Car Bike India is a showcase and comparison site for electric cars and two-wheelers sold in India. This notice explains exactly what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes our actual practices rather than every practice we might one day adopt.

What we collect, and only when you give it to us

Browsing this site needs no account and we do not ask you to create one. We collect personal data in exactly one situation: when you submit one of our enquiry or newsletter forms. Those forms store:

  • Your name — optional. Left blank, it is stored empty.
  • Phone number and/or email address — at least one is required, because without a way to reach you the enquiry cannot be answered. Whichever you do not provide is not stored.
  • City — optional, used to quote on-road prices, which vary by state.
  • Which vehicle you enquired about and which form you used (for example the footer newsletter versus a vehicle page), so we know what to reply about.
  • Your message, if the form has a message box and you write one.

That is the complete list. We do not collect payment details, we do not ask for identity documents, and we do not buy contact lists.

Why we hold it

To reply to your enquiry, and to pass it to the dealer or manufacturer team that can answer it. For newsletter signups, to send the updates you asked for. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Cookies and local storage

We set one cookie of our own: carcom_consent. It records whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies and when, so we can honour that choice and evidence it. It expires after six months and contains no identifier for you.

We also keep one item in your browser's local storage: ev-compare-v1. It holds the list of vehicles you have added to the comparison bar, so the bar survives a page reload. It never leaves your device, contains no identifier for you, and is cleared when you empty the comparison. Because it is what makes a feature you asked for work — and nothing else — it is treated as strictly necessary and is present before any cookie choice is made. You can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data controls.

Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. Reject, and no analytics script is loaded at all — not loaded-and-disabled, but never fetched. You can change your mind at any time from the Cookie preferences link in the footer; withdrawing takes one click, exactly like giving consent.

Who else sees your data

We use a small number of processors, each for one job. Only the first receives your enquiry data:

  • Resend — delivers your enquiry to our team by email.
  • Vercel and Amazon Web Services— host the site and the database. The database is in AWS's Mumbai region (ap-south-1).
  • Cloudinary — serves vehicle images. It sees image requests, not enquiries.
  • OpenChargeMap, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, OSRM and Google Maps — power the charging finder and trip planner. When you plan a trip, the places you type are sent to these services to be turned into coordinates and a route. That is not linked to you and is not stored with any enquiry.
  • CARTO— serves the map background tiles on the charging finder. Loading a map image means your IP address and the tiles you request reach CARTO, as with any image served from another company's servers. It receives no enquiry data and cannot see who you are.
  • YouTube — supplies the video thumbnails and, only once you press play, the video itself. Until you click, no YouTube player is loaded.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while they are being handled and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can pick up a conversation you return to. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will. The consent cookie expires after six months.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and under the GDPR if you are in the EU or UK, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
  • delete it;
  • stop using it, including withdrawing consent you previously gave;
  • complain — to us first, and then to the Data Protection Board of India or your local supervisory authority if we have not resolved it.

Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already happened lawfully, and we may keep the minimum needed to show we handled your request.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted an enquiry, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to the enquiry database is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, and we will tell you and the relevant authority if a breach affects you.

Contact

For anything in this notice, or to exercise a right above, contact us through the details on this site. Under DPDPA s.13 a Grievance Officer must be named so that data principals have someone to escalate to — that appointment is EV Car Bike India's to make and publish here, and this notice is not complete until it is.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes to anything you consented to will be asked for again rather than assumed.
